Question : FOODGRAINS PROCUREMENT

(a) the quantum of foodgrains including paddy, rice, wheat and maize procured by FCI in Bihar during the year 2004-05;

(b) whether the Government has formulated any scheme for procurement of cereals during 2005-06;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the details of target set for procurement of foodgrains during 2005-06; grain-wise?

(a): The quantum of foodgrains including paddy, rice, wheat and maize procured by FCI in Bihar during Kharif Marketing Season and Rabi Marketing Season 2004-05 upto 09.03.2005 is as under:-

(b) & (c): The procurement of foodgrains during 2005-06 will be undertaken by FCI and State Agencies as per the existing policy i.e. foodgrains conforming to Fair Average Quality specification will be procured from farmers at Minimum Support Prices.

(d): As procurement of foodgrains at Minimum Support Prices is open ended, no target has been fixed for procurement of foodgrains during 2005-06.
