Question : Mahila Police Volunteer Scheme


(a) whether the Mahila Police Volunteer Scheme has been implemented in the State of Andhra Pradesh;
(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(c) the number of women from Srikakulam who have volunteered for it;
(d) whether the Government has conducted any impact assessment of the scheme; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c) : Approval for implementation of Mahila Police Volunteers Scheme in 13 districts by Government of India was accorded to the State of Andhra Pradesh. As reported by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, the Scheme was implemented at Kadapa & Anantapuram districts only as a pilot project. Further, 3000 MPVs (1500 from each district) were selected under the pilot project which functioned from October 2017 to November 2019.

(d) and (e) : As per the information received from the State Government, in the pilot districts of Kadapa & Anantapuram, during the above mentioned period, total number of 7569 issues was brought to Police, 1279 cases were registered and in 6290 cases counselling was conducted and issues were settled.
