(a to b) A Scheme for “Financial assistance for Setting Up, Promotion and Strengthening of
Regional and Local Museums†is operated by Ministry of Culture under which assistance is
provided for modernization and upgradation of existing Museums which inter alia includes
components on renovation, repairs, extension, modernization of galleries, conservation, etc,
of existing museums at the regional, state and local levels. Improvement of the visitor’s
facilities is one of the components of modernization, which is a continuous process.
The Government has also undertaken a comprehensive 14 point agenda for
museum reforms, that includes improvement of visitors’ facilities at museums of national
importance under the Ministry of Culture.
