Question : PARTICIPATION OF MPS IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT SCHEMES



(a) whether the Government proposes to formulate a policy to include the suggestions of Members of Parliament (MPs) in the rural development schemes in the country;

(b) if so, whether the Government is likely to introduce a provision to seek recommendations from MPs in the Union and State projects; and

(c) if so, the time by which it is likely to be implemented?

(a) to (c): The Members of Parliament have important roles in the planning, implementation and monitoring of Rural Development Schemes. Members of Parliament are also made Members of the Vigilance and Monitoring Committees (V&MC) constituted at State and District Levels. VMCs have a crucial monitoring role to ensure that the Programme/ Schemes are executed in an efficient and transparent manner and the benefits reach the poor in full measure.
