Question : REVISION OF PAY AND CADRES



(a) whether the proposals for revision of pay of teachers and equivalent cadres in universities and colleges following the revision of pay scales of Central Government employees on the recommendation of VIth Pay Commission, have been received by the Union Government;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Union Government has agreed to give 80 per cent of the additional expenditure to be incurred by the State Governments; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Proposals have been received from State Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Union Territory of Pudducherry and Govt. of NCT of Delhi.

(b) & (d): Central assistance of 80% of the arrears of the revision of pay for the period between 1.1.2006 and 31.3.2010 is admissible only to States adopting the entire package, including age of superannuation, announced by the Central Government. Several States have asked for a review of the decision of raising age of superannuation to 65 years, as a pre-condition for availing central assistance. No amount has been released so far.
