(a) whether the Government proposes to make all the Government buildings/offices self-reliant by adopting solar energy and other environment friendly renewable sources of energy;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the rate of success so far; and
(c) the time by which target of hundred per cent coverage is likely to be achieved in this regard?

(a)to(c) The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has requested all States /Union Territories to issue necessary directions to all Departments and Institutions of States/Union Territories for utilization of vacant rooftops of their buildings for installation of solar panels. All Central Ministries/ Departments have also been requested to issue necessary directions for installation of rooftop solar projects in all buildings owned by them.
As per data available on the SPIN portal of the Ministry, an aggregate capacity of 517.78 MW of rooftop solar plants has been installed at 7897 Government buildings as on 02.08.2021.
