Question : Upgradation of National Highways

(a) whether the Government has planned to extend/ upgrade various National Highways in the Country;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the progress made in this regard so far;

(c) whether the Government has constructed more than 100 National Highways during the last five years; and

(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise including Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh?

(a) to (d) Development and maintenance of NHs is a continuous process which is carried out depending on the requirement of connectivity, traffic density, inter-se priority and availability of funds. The Ministry had taken up detailed review of NHs network and has given investment approval for Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase I Scheme for development of about 35,000 km of NH network in the country. Details of National Highways (NHs) constructed, State-wise including Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, during last five years are placed at Annexure-I.
