Question : Mahila Suraksha Kendras

(a) whether the Government has set up Mahila Suraksha Kendras in the country to provide safety and security to women;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise;
(c) the special provisions made to monitor and provide security to women in these Kendras;
(d) whether any cases of harassment have been registered in these Kendras during the last three years and the current year; and
(e) if so, the details thereof, State/ UT-wise and the action taken by the Government thereon?

(a) to (e) : Ministry of Women and Child Development has not set up any Mahila Suraksha Kendra. However, the Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing the scheme of Setting up of One Stop Centre (OSC) since 1st April 2015 to support women affected by violence to be funded under Nirbhaya Fund. The scheme aims to facilitate access to an integrated range of services including medical aid, police assistance, legal aid/case management, psycho-social counselling, temporary support services to women affected by violence. Till date, 121 Centres have been set up. Data received from 12 OSCs shows that 2384 women in distress have been assisted by these Centres.
