Question : POVERTY ALLEVIATION IN ANDHRA PRADESH



(a) the districts identified for Poverty alleviation by the Union Government in Andhra Pradesh;

(b) the present status of Poverty Alleviation schemes in these districts; and

(c) the expenditure incurred on the aforesaid head by the State and the Central Government during each of the last three years; District-wise?

(a): Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rojgar Yojana (SJSRY), the scheme for poverty alleviation launched by the Ministry of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation with effect from 01.12.1997 is applicable to all urban towns in India, including those in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

(b): The progress under SJSRY is monitored at the State level only. The cumulative achievements under different components of the scheme as reported by the Government of Andhra Pradesh are as under:-


(i) Number of beneficiaries assisted to 14576 set up micro-enterprise under Urban Self Employment Programme (USEP)

(ii) Mandays of work generated under 7.17 lakhs Urban Wage Employment Programme (UWEP)

(iii) Beneficiaries covered under 34.93 lakhs Community Structure
(c): The scheme is funded on 75:25 basis between the Centre and the States. Since the monitoring is not done at the district level, the State level expenditure as reported by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh is as under:-
