to the reply given to Unstarred Question No. 1997 regarding filing of Income Tax return by MTNL dated December 1, 2000 and state:
(a) what is the present status of SLP pending in Supreme Court in respect of charging income-tax on licence fee from MTNL;
(b) whether assessment proceedings in respect of MTNL has since been completed; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?

a) The Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by MTNL in the Supreme Court is not in respect of charging income tax on licence fee from the MTNL.
(b) & (c) The Hon`ble Supreme Court has stayed all proceedings regarding the validity of the notice u/s 148 for reassessment for the assessment year 1994-95 in the case of MTNL. Assessment proceedings for subsequent assessment years have been completed. Assessment proceedings for the A.Y. 1999-2000 are pending.
