Question : CONSTRUCTION OF DIVISIONAL OFFICE AT RANGIYA



(a) whether Railways are aware that Northeast Frontier Railway had sent a detailed estimate of Rs. 19.02 crores for construction of various office buildings required for new railway division at Rangiya;

(b) if so, whether the Railway Board has only approved a part estimate of Rs. 1,16,22,272/- for earth work and hiring of architect; and

(c) if so, the steps taken by the Government for approving the remaining amount of the Budget Estimate at `a` above or part thereof during 2001-2002?

(c): The Railways are presently facing acute resource constraints necessitating a review of the investment planning. The proposed new zones/divisions including the one at Rangiya, will gradually become operational, depending upon the result of the review and the availability of investible resources for this purpose by the Railways. No time limit for this can be indicated in view of the complexities involved.
