Question : Projects under Sagarmala Programme

(a) the present status of the implementation of various projects under Sagarmala Programme in the State of Goa;
(b) whether the Union Government has received any proposal from the Government of Goa for inclusion of projects under Sagarmala programme and if so, the details thereof along with the decision taken thereon;
(c) whether the Union Government is aware of the concerns expressed by the coastal communities in Goa due to implementation of these projects; and
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the remedial measures taken/being taken by the Government to address such concerns?

(a) The status of implementation of various projects under Sagarmala in the State of Goa is enclosed at Annexure.

(b) Proposal for development of nine coastal jetties (Sl. no. 6 to 14 in Annexure) was received from State Government of Goa. Ministry of Shipping has appointed a consultant for preparation of DPR, Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report and other documents for the construction of these jetties. DPR and EIA report have been prepared for the project.

(c) & (d) Government of Goa has received resolutions from various village panchayats opposing construction of these nine Coastal Jetties. Village Panchyats think that these jetties are being built for coal transportation. However the proposed jetties are being developed as passenger jetties.
