Question : Four Laning of Roads

(a) whether Government has identified some national highways for upgrading to four lanes;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(c) whether the Government is considering upgrading of Raniganj- Medinipur Road (NH-60) in West Bengal to four lanes; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken to compensate inhabitants residing on both sides of this road?

(a) and (b) The Ministry has identified about 3,530 km length of National Highways (NHs) stretches which are not included under any phases of National Highways Development Project (NHDP) for upgradation to four lane divided carriageway as per inter se priority, traffic density and availability of funds. The state wise details are annexed.

Further, at present four laning of about total length of 16,044 km of NHs stretches have been taken up under various phases of NHDP.

(c) and (d) The Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation has been initiated for the work of upgradation of Raniganj- Medinipur Road (NH-60) in West Bengal to four lanes for a length of 160 km. This, inter alia, includes assessment for compensation payable on account of land acquisition.
