Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to (g) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 123 to be answered on 10.02.2022 regarding Electrification of Villages
(a) to (d): There is no scheme to provide electricity in each household of every village of the country only through solar energy. However, Government of India had launched Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana – “Saubhagya” in October, 2017 with the aim to achieve universal household electrification by providing last mile grid connectivity and electricity connections to all households in rural and all poor households in urban areas across the country with provision of solar based standalone systems to un-electrified households where grid extension is neither feasible nor cost effective. Under the Scheme, 2.817 crore households were electrified upto 31.3.2021, including 4.16 lakh through solar based standalone systems. The state-wise details are available at Annexure I.
Based on the requests from the States, electrification of an additional 11.83 lakh households, including 1.35 lakh households through solar based standalone systems, have been additionally sanctioned by the Government under Deen Dayal Upadhya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY). The state-wise details are available at Annexure-II.
(e): For the recently sanctioned households for electrification under DDUGJY, in Jaipur DISCOM, M/s. Ganesh Electrical Private Limited has been awarded the work, while in Ajmer DISCOM, M/s. Topsun Energy Limited, Gujarat and Ms. TROM Industries Limited, Gujarat have been awarded the work.
