(a) : whether the Government have received a proposal from the state Government of Karnataka for amending the Karnataka Taxation Laws (Second Amendment) Bill, 1999 ;

(b) : if so, the details thereof ; and

(c) : the action taken be the Union Government thereof ?

(a) : Yes, Sir.,

(b) : The Karnataka Taxation Laws (Second Amendment) Bill, 1999 was received in the Ministry of Home Affairs on 24th May, 1999. The Bill proposes to amend the Karnataka Sales Tax Act, 1957 and the Karnataka Tax on Entry of Goods Act, 1979 to give effect to the proposals made in the Budget Speech.

(c) : The Ministry of Home affairs has informed that the Bill was circulated to the relevant Ministries and Departments and the comments received have been communicated to the State Government on 20th March, 2001 for clarifications.
