Question : FUND FOR DEVELOPMENT IN NORTH- EAST



(a) whether the allocation to the North-East States for the Rural Development schemes has been reduced sharply which has affected the development of the economy of rural poor;

(b) if so, the reasons therefor; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c): The allocation to the States, including North-East States, for the major schemes of rural development is on the basis of the plan allocation made by the Planning Commission and the guidelines of individual schemes. The allocation to the North-East States for these schemes since the year 1997-98 is as under:
