(a) whether adequate measures have been taken by his Ministry to strengthen India’s land, air and sea-lanes to meet any
kind of eventuality or challenge;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the details of the steps taken by the Government during 2009-10 and 2010-11 for upgradation of Coast Guard; and
(d) the expenditure expected to be incurred for such upgradation?

(a) to (d): Yes, Madam. Upgradation of Coast Guard Units including assets and equipments is an ongoing process based on
requirement for which adequate funds are provided. Budgetary allocations under Capital Head including major work and land
acquisition for the financial years 2009-10 and 2010-11 were Rs.921.33 crores and Rs.1200.19 crores respectively and the corresponding expenditure was Rs.907.00 Crores and Rs.1200.83 crores.
