Question : Assistive device by ALIMCO

(a) whether Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) provides appropriate state-of-the-art assistive devices & rehabilitation services for meeting the needs of Persons with Disability (PwDs)/ divyangan persons across the country and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether ALIMCO has contributed Rs. 75 lakh to PM Cares fund from their CSR funds during Covid period, if so, the details thereof;

(c) the expenditure of ALIMCO for supporting artificial limbs, providing assistive devices to PwDs and the budget support recieved since 2017, year-wise; and

(d) whether the allocation for ALIMCO will be sufficient to fulfill the need of the people as it has been drastically reduced from Rs. 50 crore last year to a mere Rs. 10 lakh and if so, the details therof?

(a) Yes Sir. Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE) under this Department, provides appropriate state-of-the-art assistive devices and rehabilitation services that meet the needs of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) across the country. The list of 26 types of assistive devices being provided by ALIMCO is at Annexure.

(b) Yes Sir, ALIMCO has contributed Rs.75.00 Lakhs to PM Cares fund under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments of the Corporation in the financial year 2020-21.

(c) Year wise expenditure of ALIMCO for providing aids & assistive devices for Persons with Disabilities ( PwDs) and budget support under ‘Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP)’ Scheme of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) to ALIMCO since 2017 is as under:-

(d) Under the ADIP Scheme funds are released to various implementing agencies for providing aids & assistive devices to eligible Divyangjan. ALIMCO is one of the major implementing agencies under the Scheme. The budget allocation under the ADIP Scheme for 2022-23 is Rs.235.00 crore. Hence, sufficient funds are available for distribution of aids and assistive devices by ALIMCO and other implementing agencies under the ADIP Scheme during 2022-23.
