Question : MAKSI-DAHOD RAIL LINES



(a)whether the Government have got conducted any survey for laying Maksi-Dahod rail line;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the work of laying the said rail line on Godhara-Indore and Devas-Maksi rail route is being done in a phased manner ;

(d) if so, the progress achieved in this regard;

(e) the amount allocated for the said work in the budget for 2001-02;

(f) whether the amount allocated is adequate for the completion of work pertaining to rail line;

(g) if not, the reasons therefor;

(h)whether the Government are aware that no work is being done for laying rail line at the middle portion of this route i.e. Indore-Dhar-Jhabua line; and

(i) if so, the programme formulated by the Government for laying rail line in this area?

Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to
(i) of Unstarred Question No. 1742 asked by Shri Kantilal Bhuria for answer on 14.3.2002 in Lok Sabha regarding Maksi-Dahod rail lines.

(a) to (i): Construction of new rail line from Godhra to Indore via Dahod, Jhabua, Dhar and new line from Dewas-Maksi is a sanctioned work. Presently, work on Dewas- Maksi new line is in progress as Phase-I work of this project. This work is targeted for completion by 31.3.2002. An amount of Rs. 15 crore was provided for this work in the budget 2001-02. Additional funds to the tune of Rs. 10 crore has been provided during the year to expedite completion

Work on remaining portion will be taken up in the coming years as per availability of resources.
