Question : SUKANYA SAMRIDDHI YOJANA



(a) the funds allocated/expenditure incurred by the Government on Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), since its inception, State-wise;

(b) whether the Government has taken steps to popularise the said scheme through publicity, if so, the details thereof and the amount of expenditure incurred in this regard, State/UT-wise including Uttar Pradesh;

(c) the amount deposited by the account holders district and State/UT-wise, including those in Chatra, Latehar, Palamu and Ahmednagar districts of Jharkhand and Maharashtra;

(d) whether the returns on recurring deposits and fixed term deposit offer better return than SSY; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government to correct the anomaly?

(a): Sir, publicity of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has been taken up at National level and an amount of Rs. 1.47 crore has been spent on publicity. The amount spent has following break-up:

 Advertising	Rs. 77, 77,016/- Audio-Visual	Rs. 69, 71,932/- Total	Rs. 1,47, 48,948/- 
(b): The Government has taken steps to popularise the scheme by carrying out publicity through print and electronic/Audio Visual media on all India basis.

As per the Shyamala Gopinath Committee, Government has to allow a spread of 25 bps on recurring deposits as part of small savings schemes and on Sukanya Samriddhi Account Schemes, it is 75 bps
