Question : HIGH LEVEL CORE GROUP



(a) whether the Government has constituted a high level core group under the Chairmanship of Labour Secretary to fulfil its commitment under the Common Minimum Programme(CMP);

(b) if so, the details with regard to the labour related issues under the CMP;

(c) whether the high level core group has ever made any suggestions or recommendations to the Government; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon?

MINISTER OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SHRI K. CHANDRASEKHAR RAO)

(a) to (d): A Core Group comprising of officials of the Ministry of Labour and Employment has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Secretary (Labour and Employment) with a view to monitor the implementation of the policies/programmes contained in the National Common Minimum Programme concerning this Ministry, which include to enhance the welfare and well being of workers, particularly, those in the unorganized sector, to ensure fullest implementation of minimum wage laws for farm labour, to strive for elimination of child labour, to pursue a dialogue with industry and trade unions for review of labour laws with a view to harmonize and streamline procedures etc.

The Core Group monitors the progress made by the concerned Divisions in implementation of the above policy points in its meetings.
