Question : SPECIALIZED TREATMENT IN ESI HOSPITALS



(a) whether there is lack of availability for specialized treatment in ESI hospitals;

(b) if so, the details and reasons therefor;

(c) whether ESI referred their beneficiaries to Government hospitals;

(d) if so, whether ESI made full payment of the estimated expenditure on treatment in the Government hospitals;

(e) if so, the details of advance payments made to various Government hospitals during each of the last three years in the country, State-wise;

(f) the details of unadjusted excess payment out of the advance still pending for adjustment with various such hospitals; and

(g) the steps taken by the Government to settle the balance expeditiously?

(a) & (b): ESI Hospitals are providing treatment in all basic specialities as per norms and standards laid down by ESI Corporation. The super speciality treatment is provided to ESI beneficiaries through tie-up arrangements with reputed Government/Non Government Institutions.

(c) &(d): ESI beneficiaries are being referred to Government hospitals and other non Government hospitals with which the State ESI Schemes are having tie up arrangements. Expenditure incurred for treatment in Government hospitals is being made in full to the hospitals/ESI beneficiaries.

(e) to (g): Information is being collected from State Governments.
