(a) the number of solar panels installed at the rooftops of the houses in the rural and urban areas in the country since 2010;
(b) whether the target fixed for the installation of solar panels for the year 2015-16 was achieved;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the details of the targets fixed for the installation and promotion of solar panels in rural areas during the year 2016-17 and the progress made in this regard?

(a): An aggregate capacity 711 MW of solar rooftop systems have been installed in the country so far, of which 33.733MWp have been installed in household sector covering 5109 residential houses in rural and urban areas. In addition, 19,97,863 Solar Lantern/lights and 14,14,870 Solar Home Lighting system have been also distributed for domestic households.
(b) & (c): Yes madam. The target fixed for the installation of solar panel for the year 2015-16 has been achieved.
(d): The Ministry has set a target of installation of 4800 MW grid connected solar rooftop plants in the country in the year 2016-17. An aggregate capacity of 415MW has been installed against target in the country which includes both urban and rural areas.
