(a) the number and location of regional rural banks in the country, State-wise, particularly in Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the criteria laid down for setting up of such banks;
(c) whether the Government propose to open more such banks in the near future; and
(d) if so, the State-wise details thereof?
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI BALASAHEB VIKHE PATH) :
(a) State-wise number and locations of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) including those in
Andhra Pradesh are given in the Statement.
(b) The RRBs were set up in accordance with the provisions of section 3 (1) of
the RRBs Act, 1976 which provides that the Central Government if requested so to do by a
sponsor bank, by notification in the Official Gazette, establish in a State or Union
Territory one more RRBs.
