Question : Insurance Claimed under PMSBY and PMJJBY

(a) the number of persons insured under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), State/ UT-wise and scheme-wise;

(b) the number of persons to whom payment of accident insurance have been made from the said scheme, State/UT and bank-wise;

(c) whether the Government has received complaints from the beneficiaries of these schemes for non-payment of accident insurance from the said schemes; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government thereon?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE

(a) to (d): The cumulative gross enrolment under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) schemes as reported by the Banks as on 30.04.2017 is 12.48 crore. The State-wise gross enrolment data is given in Annexure-1.

The State-wise and bank-wise total number of claims paid under PMSBY which provides accidental death/disability insurance cover is given in Annexure-2 and Annexure-3 respectively.

The complaints of the beneficiaries in respect of the schemes are dealt in coordination with Banks and Insurance Companies in getting the complaints resolved expeditiously. The progress of settlement of claims under PMJJBY and PMSBY is monitored regularly by the Government.
