(a) whether the Railways is going to introduce additional local train services on its suburban networks;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the list of routes selected for the purpose;
(c) whether this will reduce passenger burden across the routes; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): During the current financial year i.e. 2017-18, 95 new suburban train services have been introduced over Indian Railways. The details of the routes on which the new suburban train services have been introduced are as under:
i. Barasat-Hasnabad section
ii. Sonarpur-Diamond Harbour section
iii. Diamond Harbour-Baruipur section
iv. Sealdah-Diamond Harbour section
v. Tarakeswar-Arambagh section
vi. Chennai Central-Avadi section
vii. Chennai Beach-Tiruvallur section
viii. Tiruvallur-Avadi section
ix. Chengalpattu-Tirumalpur section
x. Churchgate-Dahanu Road section
Introduction of additional train services will benefit the travelling passengers by increasing capacity and improving connectivity.
Besides, introduction of additional suburban trains is an ongoing process subject to various factors, inter-alia, including sectional capacity utilization, availability of rolling stock, maintenance and stabling facilities, traffic justification etc.
