Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Dr Mahesh Sharma)

(a): No, Madam. Airports Authority of India (AAI) never acquires land directly from land owners. AAI gives its land requisition for development of various airports to respective State Governments and State Governments acquire the land and handover the same to AAI free of cost and free from all encumbrances. If required, AAI pays compensation as per respective State Government Policy. Hence, no such irregularities on the part of AAI have occurred at any airport project including Srinagar airport.
