Question : RECOVERY OF MUGHAL ERA COINS DURING EXCAVATION



(a) whether Archaeologists and experts have been deployed for digging the mughal era coins and to discover the old remains in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the details of mughal era coins, old remains unearthed during digging at cultural and historical sites and their nearby areas across the country during the last three years, State /UT-wise; and

(c) whether there is a provision to keep the valuable objects recovered during digging in the National Museums and other safe places; and

(d) If so, the details thereof?

(a) The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has not deployed any archaeologists and experts for digging the Mughal era coins. However, archaeologists discover old remains during explorations and excavations.

(b) The information is being collected from the field offices of ASI as soon as the complete information is received the same will be placed on the table of the House.

(c)&(d) There is no such provision to keep the valuable objects only in the National Museum. However, some very important excavated objects are displayed in National Museum, New Delhi.

As per our policy, excavated objects/antiquities are either displayed in site Museums, or kept in Central Antiquity Collection, Purana Qila, New Delhi/Excavation Branches/Circle offices and other museums etc.
