Question : SETTING UP OF AEROBRIDGE AT AIRPORTS



(a) whether it is proposed to set up aerobridges in important airports to enable the passengers to board into planes especially in times of rainy season without getting drenched;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a), (b) and (c):- Installation of aerobridges is normally considered on the following criteria:-



(i) At the international airports and other busy major airports;

(ii) Where two level operations are possible for arrival and departure separately in the terminal building;

(iii) Aircraft push-back arrangements are available;

(iv) Adequate size of aircraft parking stand is available; and

(v) Hydrant for the aircraft refuelling arrangements are available.
Airports Authority of India has provided aerobridges at international airports at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta. Besides these, aerobridges are also available at Bangalore and Hyderabad airports. There are plans to install aerobridges at Guwahati, Amritsar and Ahmedabad airports.
