Question : DONATIONS CHARGED BY ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT INSTITUTIONS

(a) whether complaints have been received by the Government regarding donations being charged by private engineering and management institutions during the last three years and the current year;

(b) if so,the details thereof,State-wise;

(c) whether the Government has made any investigation into such complaints;

(d) if so,the number of complaints found true during the investigation;and

(e) the action taken by the Government in this regard?

a) Yes, Sir.

(b) The following complaints have been received by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)during the last three years in respect of donations being charged by private engineering/management institutions.

In addition to the above,the Government of Tamil Nadu has informed the AICTE that a number of AICTE approved engineering colleges from the State of Tamil Nadu are charging Capitation Fee.

(c) to (e): Yes,Sir.As per information furnished by AICTE,complaints pertaining to the States of Bihar & Gujarat are supported by prima facie evidence.A Committee has been constituted by AICTE to enquire into the allegations made in the complaints.
