Question : Gas Pipeline Network

(a) the details of existing industrial gas pipeline network along with the gas pipelines in the country including its capacity to transport gas/LPG;
(b) whether the Government proposes to extend the gas grid network/industrial pipelines across the country, State/UT-wise and if so, the details thereof along with the details of investment made by public/private sector companies, company-wise;
(c) whether the gas based industries have been badly affected due to unavailability/shortage of pipeline network across the country, if so, the details thereof along with the action plan formulated for the purpose;
(d) whether the Gas Authority of India Limited proposes to lay gas pipeline from Gokak to Goa and if so, the details thereof along with the benefits likely to be reaped by gas based industries; and
(e) the approximate number of employment likely to be created as a result thereof?

(a) Details of existing Natural Gas Pipeline and LPG pipeline in the country are at Annexure-I.
(b) Details of ongoing/approved Natural Gas Pipeline in the country are at Annexure-II. These pipelines have been authorized by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) and are at various stages of execution viz. Pre-Project activities/laying etc.
(c) Domestic natural gas is allocated as per the prevailing gas allocation policy depending upon the availability and balance demand is being met through the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). LNG is imported under open general license on the terms and conditions mutually agreed upon between the buyers and sellers.
(d) & (e) GAIL (India) Ltd. was entrusted to develop Dabhol-Bangalore pipeline (DBPL) in year 2007. Gokak to Goa pipeline section was a part of DBPL project. GAIL, in February, 2013 has commissioned DBPL project including the Gokak to Goa pipeline section. PNGRB has authorized South Goa & North Goa districts of Goa and Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra en-route to this pipeline network for development of CGD network which will ensure the availability of eco-friendly cooking fuel/transportation fuel in the form of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and also to provide natural gas to industrial/commercial consumers in the region. This has generated/ and also have potential to generate direct and indirect employment in the region.
