Question : CHILD PROTECTION



(a) whether the Government’s attention has been drawn to the news-item regarding setting aside a minimal budget for child protection and education as reported in The Asian Age dated September 12, 2007;

(b) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto;

(c) whether the Government proposes to enhance the allocation for the said purposes; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b),(c)&(d) The Government makes efforts to increase the allocation for all children related schemes and programmes including education and child protection. An allocation of Rs.71,000 crore has been indicated by Planning Commission for Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan for the Eleventh Plan Period. The Ministry of Women and Child Development propose to implement a new Integrated Child Protection Scheme in the Eleventh Plan.
