(a) & (b): Yes Madam, the export of textile products from Bangladesh and Vietnam is increasing as compared with our country. Bangladesh textile and apparel exports have increased by 4% from US$ 31 billion in 2014 to US$ 32.3 billion in 2015 while Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports have increased by 0.8% from US$ 25.2 billion in 2014 to US$ 25.4 billion in 2015. India’s textile and apparel exports (excluding Handicrafts) have reduced by 4% from US$ 38.6 billion in 2014 to US$ 37.2 billion in 2015. Challenges faced by the textile industry in promoting exports include discriminatory import duties in major markets and antidumping duties on man-made fibres, filament yarns from India.
(c): Government has announced a special package for the apparel sector to alleviate the difficulties faced by the textile industry. The packages offers labour law reforms, additional incentives under ATUFS, enhanced duty drawback coverage and relaxation of Section 80JJAA of Income Tax Act for garment industry. Apart from the special package, Government has various export promotion schemes to promote exports on sustained basis. These include, Merchandize Exports from India Scheme (MEIS), Market Access Initiative (MAI), Market Development Assistance (MDA) and Duty Drawback
