Question : Broad gauge Rail Line between Ahmedabad and Jaipur

(a) whether the Government has proposed any fund for the broad gauge Railway line between Ahmedabad to Jaipur rail route;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the details of the plan to finish the electrification and doubling of railway track between these two cities?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 586 BY SHRI D. S. RATHOD TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 19.07.2017 REGARDING BROAD GAUGE RAIL LINE BETWEEN AHMEDABAD AND JAIPUR

(a) & (b): There is already an existing broad gauge railway line between Ahmedabad and Jaipur. However, the work of Gauge conversion of Ahmedabad-Mahesana (68.78 km) metre gauge (MG) line into broad gauge as double line has been taken up. An outlay of ` 128.13 crore has been provided for this project for the year 2017-18.

(c): The details plan for electrification and doubling of railway track between Ahmedabad-Jaipur is as under:

(i). Ahmedabad-Mahesana-Palanpur: The work of Gauge conversion of Ahmedabad-Mahesana (68.78 km) metre gauge (MG) line running parallel to existing broad gauge (BG) line has been taken up which after completion, a double broad gauge line will be available in this section.

(ii). Mahesana- Palanpur: Doubling of this section is not a sanctioned project.

(iii) Palanpur-Ajmer: On this section, doubling of Swaroopganj- Keshavganj (26.48 km.), Keshavganj-Moribera (26.61 km.) and Chandawal-Marwar- (36.09 m.) sections have been completed and commissioned. Doubling in balance section is in different stages of progress.

(iv) Ajmer-Jaipur: It is already a double line section.

Electrification of Ahmedabad-Jaipur railway line is a part of Delhi Sarai Rohila-Rewari-Palanpur-Ahmedabad inclduing Kalol-Gandhinagar-Khodiyar and Alwar-Bandikui-Jaipur-Phulera Railway Electrification project (1087 km.). The work has been sanctioned at a cost of ` 1294.84 crore.

Electrification work on Rani-Palanpur section has been entrusted to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and the work of balance section has been entrusted to Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE), Allahabad.
