Question : UNIVERSALISATION OF PRIMARY EDUCATION

(a) whether the Government have taken fresh initiatives for universalisation of primary of primary education in the country:
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the financial assistance provided to States for implementation of the scheme particularly to Maharashtra, State-wise: and

(d) the number of children to be covered under the innovative scheme in Maharashtra?

(a) to (d): Decision has been taken ato launch Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to bring every child to school, education guarntee center or back to school camp by 2003.

No financial assistance has been provided to states as yet.
