Question : ON GOING RAILWAY PROJECTS



(a) the details of on-going railway projects along with their estimated cost, project-wise;

(b) the progress achieved so far on each project after the publication of White Paper along with expenditure incurred thereon;

(c) the funds required for completion of these projects and allocated during 2000-01 project-wise; and

(d) the details of those projects which are lagging behind their original schedule along with the reasons for delay; and

(e) the cost over run thereby project-wise?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.2309 FOR 9.3.2000 ASKED BY S/SHRI SHRI SUKDEO PASWAN, U.V.KRISHNAMRAJU, NAWAL KISHORE RAI, RAJO SINGH, SHANKERSINH VAGHELA, SUSHIL KUMAR INDORA, RAMSAGAR RAWATAND ASHOK PRADHAN REGARDING ON-GOING RAILWAY PROJECTS.

(a) to (c) : Details of on-going railway projects along with their estimated cost, project wise, the progress of each project, funds allocated during 2000-2001, project wise and funds required for completion of these project is at Appendix.

(d) to (e): Target for completion of rail projects are fixed on an annual basis based on availability of resources. Details of the projects targeted for completion in the current year (1999- 2000), which had a time over run, along with the reasons for delay are as follows:-

New Line Project.
Name of Project Present Status
Kashinagar-Kakdweep New Likely to be completed only by June, Line 2000, due to delay in land acquisition.
Jaruri-Banspani New Likely to be completed only by June, Line 2000 due to delay in land acquisition.
Kapadvanj-Modasa New Will be completed by June 2000 due to Line non availability of rails
Gauge Conversion Project.
Kashipur – Lalkuan Expected to be completed by 31.5.2000 due to law and order problems.
Mudkhed-Adilabad This project has been delayed. The work is being done under BOLT and is now expected to be completed only by March 2001 due to problems of finance which have now been settled.
Lakshmantirtha bridge This project has been delayed due to diversion on Mysore- contractual problems and is now Hassan line expected to be completed after about one year.
Dharangdhara-Kuda This project has been delayed due to non availability of funds from the co- shares . Now expected to be completed by Dec. 2000.
Gandhidham-Bhuj This project has been delayed due to non availability of rails. This is now expected to be completed by June 2000.



All these projects were slated for completion by March 2000 but they have been delayed by a few months. Since all the material had been arranged and contracts were already in force, there will be no cost on this account.
