(a) to (c) Government of India approved Rooftop Solar Programme Phase-II with an objective to achieve 40 GW of RTS capacity in the country by 2022. The programme envisages installation of 4,000 MW of RTS capacity in the residential sector by providing Central Financial Assistance and incentivizing distribution companies for achievement in total RTS capacity addition above yearwise baseline capacity.
Against the target of 4,000 MW RTS capacity for residential sector, over 3,300 MW capacity has been allocated to various Discoms/ State Implementing Agencies based on the demand received from them, of which over 1132 MW capacity has been reported installed. The state-wise details in this regard are given at Annexure.
The implementation of programme has been significantly affected due to Covid-19 pandemic. Ministry has already given extension of five months on account of first wave of Covid-19 pandemic and another four months on account of second wave of Covid-19 pandemic. Some of the States, have requested for further extension in the execution of time-line.
