Rashida Haque Choudhury, 1948; 1 s. and 3 d.; Senior Advocate; practised in Assam and Nagaland High Court and Calcutta High Court; did pilgrimage and became a Haji in 1968; Member, (i) Silchar Local Board, 1950, (ii) Silchar Municipal Board-1957-1960, (iii) Executive Committee, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee since 1962 (iv) Assam Congress Parliamentary Party Executive Committee from 1957 to 1971 (February), (v) AICC since 1967, and (vi) Durgah Khwaja Sahab Committee, Ajmer for several years till 1971; Chairman of the Central Hai Committee of the Government of India, 1969-70 and its Member for several years; Represented India in the General Assembly of the UNO in 1960 and 1967; Leader of the Indian Goodwill Delegation to Saudi Arabia in 1968; Represented India in the World Islamic Conference at Kuala Lumpur in 1969 on behalf of the Government of India; Member, Assam Legislative Assembly, 1952 to 1971; Chief Whip of the Assam Congress Parliamentary Party, 1957-1962; Minister, Government of Assam 1957 to 1967; appointed Minister of Industrial Development in March 1971.
