Saratkumari Devi, May 1, 1907; 7 S. and 1 D.; Teacher; President, Contai District Board, and Contai Local Board; Member, Bengal Legislative Council (1924) and Bengal Legislative Assembly (1932); was Member of Congress and Forward Bloc; Subsequently joined P.S.P.; President, Midnapur District P.S.P.; Was Member, Revolutionary Party (1906); Joined non-co-operation movement and suffered imprisonment, externment etc. for 12 years (1922—34); Associated with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose; Chief Editor, Deshapran, a nationalist weekly from Contai.
