Prof. Saifuddin Soz, the Union Minister of Water Resources inaugurated pavilion of Ministry of Water Resources at Indian International Trade Fair-2006 being organized at ITPO, Pragati Maindan, New Delhi from 14th November, 2006 to 27th November, 2006 by way of raising a pavilion and display of models on water related issues. The theme of the pavilion is “Rainwater Harvesting and Artificial Recharge”. Minister of State for Water Resources Shri Jai Prakash Narain Yadav and senior officials of the Ministry of Water Resources were also present on the occasion.
The models of Rainwater Harvesting structures in Rural Areas as well as Urban Areas have been displayed inside the pavilion. Further, the time tested techniques viz. the gabion structures and Rainwater Harvesting through check dams have also been displayed through models.
With a view to attract younger generation, especially the children, street play on the theme of Necessity of Conservation of Water through music and dance show have also been displayed. The modern techniques of communications viz. touch screen and plasma TV have also been used to inform visitors about various facets of water conservation with emphasis on Rainwater Harvesting and Artificial Recharge.
