Illegal exchange racket busted in Hyderabad

In a series of unearthing illegal exchanges, the Department of Telecom (DOT) was once again successful in busting an illegal exchange in Hyderabad. The illegal exchange was connected Internet with Internet Leased Line from ‘Southern Online’ an internet service provider operating in the city, with optical fibre cable on one side and 48 CDMA Fix Wireless Terminals (FWTs) and 6 GSM routers to route the illegal international calls in local network. Some spare/used FWTs and SIM cards were also found at the location. Copies of paid/unpaid bills and various agreements in respect of FWT/GSM phones, lease line and the service agreement with the international call routes from USA were also found at the site. The statement of accounts in various banks along with the account numbers were also seized by the Local Police from the site.

The Hyderabad Police have arrested two persons in this connection and registered a case under the relevant sections of Indian Telegraph Act 1885.
