Amendment to Prevention of Money-Laundering Act

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to the following proposals :

 

(i)                 Amendments to section 28, 29, 30,44, 45 & 73 and inclusion of definition of the term “Investigation under section 2 of the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act (PMLA)

(ii)               Setting up of Adjudicating  Authority and Appellate Tribunal under the PMLA

(iii)             Assigning the work of investigation, attachment of property / proceeds of crime relating to scheduled offences and filling of complaints before Special Court, etc. under the said Act to the Directorate of Enforcement.

The PMLA Bill, 2005 would be introduced in the current session of Parliament.
