Srinagar Airport to be declared International Airport

Union Cabinet today gave its approval for declaring the Srinagar domestic airport as an “International Airport”.

The declaration of the domestic airport at Srinagar as International Airport will offer improved connectivity, wider choice of services at competitive cost to the air travelers resulting in the boost of international tourism and economic development of the region.

Currently, international Haj flights also operate from this airport. Airports at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Amritsar and Guwahati will be added to the list as and when the facilities at these airports are upgraded to the desired level.
