All the three lignite mines of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) have been conferred with ISO-9001 : 2000 Certification recently by the American National Accreditation Board for Quality Management. Power stations of NLC have already received ISO certification for quality management system (ISO-9001 : 2000) and Environmental Management System (ISO-14001 : 1996). With these achievements, NLC has become the first company under the Ministry of Coal to have received ISO certification for all of its mines and power houses. The company was conferred with ‘Miniratna’ status in August 2004.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who is also the Minister of Coal and the Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao have complimented the management and workers of NLC on achieving this distinction.
