Question : GRANT PROVIDED ON SEEDS



(a) Whether the Government provides grants on the seeds of less than ten years old only in Macro Management and ISOPOM schemes;

(b) If so, whether the Governments is aware that in case of oilseeds and pulses there are no new developed seeds within ten years limit;

(c) Whether the Government propose to remove this time limit; and

(d) If so, the details thereof?

(a) : Under the Macro Management Scheme, grant is available on the seeds of less than ten years old only. However, there is a provision of relaxing the time limit of 10 years in special cases. In the Integrated Scheme of Oilseeds, Pulses, Oil Palm & Maize (ISOPOM), no time limit ¦is fixed for the production and distribution of seeds. However, under the minikit programme of ISOPOM, which is meant to popularize newly released varieties of seeds, a time limit often years has been fixed.

(b) : During the last ten years, a number of varieties/hybrids of oilseeds and pulses have been released.

(c) : No, Sir.

(d) : Question does not arise.
