Question : CGHS Beneficiaries

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether retired Central Government employees who are under Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries are facing innumerable hardships, as leading private hospitals are refusing treatment them;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to allow retired Central Government employees under CGHS to go to CGHS recognized private hospitals of their choice; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): There are few such complaints in respect of some hospitals empanelled under CGHS.
As and when such complaints are received, appropriate action is taken against the empanelled hospitals as per the terms and conditions of empanelment and Memorandum of Agreement with the empanelled hospitals.
(c) & (d): Guidelines in this regard are already in place. CGHS beneficiaries have the option of availing indoor treatment at CGHS recognised private hospitals of his/her choice after a specialist of CGHS/Govt. Hospital recommends for the same.
