Question : One Nation One Ration Card Scheme

(a) the manner in which ‘One Nation One Ration Card is likely to be beneficial for the people of the country;

(b) the steps taken to identify the fake card holders under the said scheme;

(c) the details of the special facilities likely to be made available to the people under the said scheme; and

(d) the manner in which the Government is likely to ensure its access in those inaccessible areas where network is not available?

(a): Under the scheme on “Integrated Management of Public Distribution System (IM-PDS)” the Department is implementing nation-wide portability of ration card holders through ''One Nation One Ration Card'' plan, which enables any eligible ration card holder/beneficiary covered under National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) to lift their entitled foodgrains from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) of their choice anywhere in the country by using their existing/same ration card after biometric/ Aadhaar authentication on electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) devices installed at the FPSs in States/UTs. ...............2/-

(b): A Central Repository of all ration cards/beneficiaries covered under NFSA has been setup for national de-duplication and sharing of results with concerned State/UT Government for necessary action/field verification.

(c): Migratory beneficiaries in the country may avail their entitled foodgrains from any FPS of their choice anywhere in the country using same/existing ration card.

(d): The facility of national portability is applicable only for those ration card holders which are availing the foodgrains after biometric authentication based online system through ePoS device. Other remaining beneficiaries may avail their foodgrains from respective tagged FPSs in home State/UT.
