Question : INTRODUCTION OF METRO RAILWAY IN ANDHRA PRADESH



(a) whether the Government of Andhra Pradesh has also commissioned Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to prepare a report for introducing Metro Railway in Hyderabad and Secunderabad;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the estimated cost of the project; and

(d) other details in this regard?

(a): Yes, Sir. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has engaged the services of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for introduction of a Metro Rail System in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

(b)to(d): The routes to be covered by the proposed Metro Rail System are:-


(i) Miyapur-Kukatpally-Osmania Medical College-Dilsukh Nagar-Chitanyapuri (26.27 kms.) - Corridor No.1.

(ii) Secunderabad-Charminar-Falaknuma (13.18 kms.) - Corridor No.2.


The project cost is estimated at Rs.3,205 crore at April, 2003 prices. Both corridors are proposed as elevated lines with modern rolling stock and system.
