Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE(SHRI TASLIMUDDIN)

(a): Delhi Milk Scheme(DMS) is supplying milk to its consumers in neat and clean crates. On return from the market, the plastic crates before reuse for milk storage are properly cleaned through mechanical crates washers, wherein tap water, hot water and hot detergent solution are used for the cleaning purposes.

(b)&(c): The cleaning of the crates is checked in each shift by the Supervisor and Senior Supervisory cadre officers. Also the Quality Control Laboratory twice in the shift checks the detergent solutions used for cleaning of the crates. In order to ensure that, as far as practical, not a single crate goes to the market un-cleaned, crate washing is divided in two stages. The crate washers have been re-located in the crate-washing hall. Each crate after subjecting to crate washing, is checked for cleanliness before conveying on the Poly pack machine conveyor and any unclean crate found is brushed manually (2nd stage). It is then only passed on to conveyors for poly pack loading. DMS ensures supply of milk in properly cleaned milk crates.
