Question : RESERVATION IN PRIVATE UNAIDED INSTITUTIONS

to the reply to Unstarred Question No. 1852 dated 26.03.2012 and state:

(a) whether the information in respect of the enactment of legislation which would provide reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in private or unaided institutions has since been collected;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon, so far;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the time by which the said information is likely to be collected and laid on the table of the House?

(a) to (d) As per the information provided by the Department of Higher Education, a legislative proposal to provide reservations to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in private or unaided institutions, is under consideration of the Government. However, no definite time frame can be fixed since detailed consultations and consensus building on this issue is required.
